3) Building City Walls
4) Building Warehouses
5) Building Canals
6) Building Ziggurats
Building Dykes and Dams is important to control the flooding in many places in Mesopotamia. Building city walls is also another very important Public Work done by the Mesopotamians. City walls are important because they help protecting the city against invaders. Building these city walls makes it harder for the enemy to attack. Another very important Public Work, Perhaps the most important, is building the canals. Building canals is very important because it brings the water to the fields. Without the water reaching the fields the farmers would not plant and there would not be enough food for the people. Building Ziggurats is also another very important public work done by the Mesopotamians. Ziggurats help the city run smoothly for many reasons. One reason is that they are where the Mesopotamians believe their gods are. Normal Mesopotamian citizens are not allowed in the Ziggurats, only priests are allowed in there. Food is sometimes even stored in the Ziggurats, which makes it easier for the priests to equally divide the food to the Mesopotamians, to kill the chance of inequality.
Nevertheless, for a city as big as Mesopotamia, there should be more public works. The architects should take more help from the weavers and pottery workers to decorate these public works even more. There should be more roads built in Mesopotamia and the roads should be wide so there could be more people living in the city. There has to be more than one city wall to make it even harder for the enemy to pass by it. Since the public works are the greatest things in the city they are the most things that attract people to come and visit. Public works also help everyone who is in Mesopotamia, which means if the public works are more useful, for example the canals get the water to reach to most places around the city that would attract even more visitors.
